Dakar Yellow BMW M3 E92 with plenty of Carbon Fiber spoted in SoCal by AutoSpies

Auto Spies Agent 001 was out spying LA yesterday when he came across this little gem on the sales floor at South Bay BMW in Torrance.

No you're NOT mistaken, it is a factory ordered 2011 BMW M3 Coupe in M3 heritage Dakar Yellow with KILLER carbon accents and 335is black kidney grills.

As you know a lot of buzz has been circling around about the Frozen Gray matte finished special edition M3 but Agent 001 likes tradition and is diggin' this beauty.

Our one criticism of the M3 is that it needed a couple special edition colors when it launched outside of the boring red the launch cars were all painted.

All previous editions had exotic color options like Phoenix Yellow, Daytona Violet, Estoril Blue, Laguna Seca Blue, etc. If we bought an M3, we'd want it to stand out. How about you?

What say you about this badass yellow coupe? STUD or DUD?

BTW, it's not sold so if you want it give Achilles jingle and tell them the Spies sent you.

FYI, check the window sticker...The custom color adds $5k to the tally.

BMW M3 GTS Review - The mega M3, BMW's hardcore 911 GT3 RS rival. 444bhp, 190mph!

What is it?
A very expensive M3. There's no official number from BMW UK because the 10 cars due to land here won't arrive until next year and the 20% VAT rate will then be in place. But we know it'll be £100k plus. It's more of a track car than the iconic E46 CSL. The half-cage is standard as are the Pirelli P-Zero Corsas. There's no manual gearbox option and there will only be 150 built.

Technical highlights
The motor is now 362cc bigger, bringing an extra 30bhp and 30lb ft (outputs are now 444bhp and 325lb ft, the latter delivered earlier in the rev range than before). Perspex side and rear glass, no rear seats, lightweight door cards and a minimalist centre console save 75kg over the standard car. The gearbox is BMW's seven-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission), which is engineered by Getrag.

What's it like?
Around the Ascari track in Spain, fast, very fast. There were standard E92 M3 Competitions to drive for comparison purposes and the GT3, predictably, monsters them. It doesn't feel its 1530kg in direction changes, which is testament to the chassis changes which include a solid mounted rear subframe and adjustable dampers. Straight-line speed is impressive, BMW claims 0-62mph in 4.4sec and 190mph flat out. The noise is naughty.

Turn it UP, sit back and enjoy the sounds of the M3 GTS

I would buy an M3 GTS for the exhaust sound alone! There is some interesting insight into why and how the GTS was build by BMW courtesy of Rolf Scheibner the product manager for the M3 GTS.

Apparently BMW couldn't afford any music at the end so enjoy the birds chirping

CNET 335is Review - Calls it lean and purposeful

CNET takes the new 335is for a spin and come away big fans of the 'is', especially the improved exhaust, which the reviewer call "the best thing you're going to listen to" . My favorite quote from the clip is "Elegant directness is the message here" and the reviewer also likes how all the options are the car are available a la cart.

Take a look, well worth the five and a half minutes of your time
