BMW North America Announces Best Dealerships in the US

BMW of North America announced the names of its top performing dealerships in the US. The 31 BMW dealers out of 338 nationwide awarded the "2009 Center of Excellence Award" were selected based on the criteria of customer satisfaction, brand representation, and operational excellence.
Over the last 10 years, the BMW dealer network has invested over $2.1 billion dollars improving its sales facilities and repair workshops, refining processes and focusing on top-tier customer service, making it one of the most successful franchises in the US.
"While all BMW dealerships offer a premium experience to our customers, the 31 Centers that have won this year's award excelled in the way they take care of their customers and represent the BMW brand," said Peter Miles, Executive Vice President Operations, BMW of North America.
Recent independent studies confirm BMW's superior customer service performance. J.D. Power and Associates' Customer Service Index (CSI) Study ranked the BMW dealer network among the top three automotive brand franchises in the US for its superior customer satisfaction and dealer service. And BusinessWeek identified BMW as one of the top 25 "Customer Service Champs" among all companies in the US.
"Anyone who is in the market with money to spend should expect to receive an exceptional customer experience," said Alan Harris, Vice President Aftersales, BMW of North America. "BMW's efforts to provide exceptional customer service have become a crucial part of our continued success even in today's challenging economic climate."

CHRISTOPHER BANGLE HANDS OVER HIS POST AS HEAD OF DESIGN AT THE BMW GROUP TO ADRIAN VAN HOOYDONK IN ORDER TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE THE BMW GROUP AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY
Munich - Christopher E. Bangle, the BMW Group's Head of Design, has worked closely with Adrian van Hooydonk in BMW Group design development for nearly17 years. Now he is handing over his post to van Hooydonk, who is currently Head of BMW Automobile Design. "Christopher Bangle has had a lasting impact on the identity of BMW Group's brands. His contribution to the company's success has been decisive, and together with his teams he has mapped out a clear and aesthetic route into the future," said Dr Klaus Draeger, BMW AG's Board Member for Development. Dr Draeger went on to explain that the BMW Group was currently "in an excellent position", thanks to a broad portfolio of automobiles and several new vehicle concepts due for market launch in the coming months and years. The BMW AG Management Board, he added, is looking forward to working with van Hooydonk as Head of BMW Group Design - a man who shares Bangle's fascination for technology and aesthetics, tradition and innovation. Dr Draeger affirmed that van Hooydonk would be in a position to continue to build on a design philosophy, which extends across the BMW Group's brands. Bangle's plan to pursue his own design-related endeavours beyond the auto industry marks the start of a new phase in his life while maintaining strong ties with the BMW Group.
Over the years numerous designs for new vehicles and vehicle concepts have been developed under Christopher Bangle's leadership. As well as continuing the BMW 3, 5 and 7 Series, he and his teams were responsible for a range of other models, including the BMW Z3, BMW Z4, BMW X5, BMW Z8, BMW X3, the new BMW 6 Series, the BMW X6 and the BMW 1 Series. Other developments under the auspices of Christopher Bangle include the new MINI and Rolls-Royce models and a number of innovative motorcycle concepts. During his tenure, Christopher Bangle was also instrumental in making the company's consultancy subsidiary, BMW Group DesignworksUSA, what it is today: a global design... [Read More]

BMW 2009 "Fast Facts"
It is good to see that even with the economic down turn, credit crunch and related automotive slow down BMW hasn't run out of things to update us on. Apparently in Germany a 455 page PDF qualifies as "Fast Facts", it makes you wonder how many pages are in the "Full Facts"?
BMW Fast Facts 2009 continues with essentially the same popular format that BMW center personnel have come to appreciate, but with some updates and changes that reflect BMW's response to changing times. In the front of the book, Mobile Tradition, for example, is renamed BMW Classic and reflects the changed priorities of this heritage-nurturing division of BMW. EfficientDynamics is a new section that describes BMW's comprehensive initiative of improving our vehicles' fuel and overall efficiency while preserving their inherent, brand defining driving dynamics. At the back of the book, BMW Welt (Bay-Em-Vay Velt, translates to BMW World) describes that fantastic new center in Munich, the historic home of BMW worldwide, while the section on Taking delivery in Munich or Spartanburg reflects the evolution of these programs and the fact that European delivery now takes place at BMW Welt.
The product sections also show evolution. As before, BMW features covers features found in more than one Series; this avoids repetition and thus helps keep the handbook as compact as possible in an era of proliferating models and features. The Series sections concentrate on information particular to the individual Series or platforms; here the listing of key features distinguishing the Series' models from each other is presented in tabular form under Series models & key features; then descriptive information on the Series as a whole is found in Series key features. Each Series section concludes with tables summarizing standard & optional features
and technical specifications in considerable detail. With each of these sections at your fingertips, you can usually answer any questions you or your customers might have about the details of any given model.
As always with Fast Facts, this new edition has been designed and produced to put a wealth of information within easy reach

BMW 3 Series Voted most Reliable Car in the UK
BMW's biggest selling model range, the 3 Series, has been voted the most reliable car in a survey of Britain's vehicle leasing companies. The poll, which covered the reliability history of nearly 900,000 vehicles in 2008, also revealed that BMW was the most reliable manufacturer overall.
In an historic win over the Japanese car manufacturers who traditionally dominate in reliability surveys, BMW topped the charts in this year's annual FN50 reliability survey. The BMW 3 Series was the most rated model for reliability, with the MINI hatch and BMW 1 Series also making the top ten, sitting fifth and seventh most reliable respectively.
The survey compiled by Fleet News looked at multi-marque leasing companies. 881,000 cars were assessed according to the number of breakdowns per 100 of each type of model on each leasing company's fleet. Points were then awarded according to the number of times that brands or particular models appeared in the tables supplied by the leasing firms and also for the position in which they were placed.
BMW honored for EfficientDynamics
News of BMW's success in the FN50 reliability survey comes swiftly after the marque won a trio of important environmental awards in recognition of its EfficientDynamics technologies.
The Energy Saving Trust staged the 2008 Fleet Hero Awards to idenitify companies that have gone to impressive lengths to cut down on fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. BMW was announced the winner in the ***8216;Industry supplier' category for the introduction of EfficientDynamics. Meanwhile, BMW picked up two awards in the GreenFleet Awards 2008. The marque was presented with ***8216;Car Manufacturer of the Year' in honour of its innovative engineering solutions to modern day motoring issues and ***8216;Green Marketing Campaign of the Year' for its accurate and effective promotion.
