BMW Sales down for August 2010 - Sales drop 1.6% with mid-year slow down
The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported August sales of 23,965 vehicles, a decrease of 1.6 percent from the 24,343 vehicles sold last year. Year-to-date, the BMW Group also reported a sales volume of 168,940 vehicles, up 5.6 percent from the 160,044 units sold last year.
“As predicted, we are seeing a slowdown in the market and do not expect the second half of the year to be as strong as the first half,” said Jim O’Donnell, President of BMW of North America, LLC. “Despite this, building momentum throughout the year and narrowing the gap with our competitors is still our plan. The new 5 Series is now part of our model lineup complementing the segment leading 7 Series, Z4 Roadster and 3 Series. We are also seeing continual growth in the SAV segment with the X5 and X6, as intended.”
BMW Brand Sales
Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 1.6 percent for a total of 19,540 vehicles from the 19,232 units sold last year. Year-to-date, BMW sales were up 7.8 percent to 139,236 vehicles from the 129,176 units sold last year.
In August, the best performing vehicles included the 1 Series, up 52.5 percent to 1,394 units and the 7 Series, up 42 percent to 1,224 units. The X5 and X6 continue to perform very well with an increase of 21.4 percent and 34.4 percent, respectively.

 What we have here. US vs Europe! We have the BMW M3, one of the best sports car that Germany made, and the new Ford Mustang Gt, a car that has allot of potential!
The fourth generation BMW M3 was announced on the 2007 Geneva Auto Show. Just as the previous M3 generations all introduced a completely new engine, the fourth generation M3 did the same: the BMW S65 engine was introduced.
This S65B40 is a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-litre V8 (based on the S85B50 5-litre V10 that powers the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 to date), delivering 414 bhp (309 kW; 420 PS) at 8,300 rpm, with peak torque at 400 N·m (300 lb·ft) at 3,900 rpm, which represents a power increase of 22% over the E46 M3.
Talking about the new Ford Mustang GT, well, at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, Ford introduced a completely redesigned Mustang, codenamed “S-197,”
Ford announced on December 28, 2009 that the 2011 Mustang GT would feature a 5.0 engine (302.15 cid (4.951 L)) that produces 412 horsepower (307 kW) and 390 lb·ft (530 N·m) of torque on “premium fuel” (gasoline with a pump octane rating of 91); on “regular fuel” (gasoline with a pump octane rating of 87), these numbers fall to 402 hp (300 kW) and 377 lb·ft (511 N·m).

 Nothing screams Fanatic like taking an already limited edition car, say a one of thirty Frozen Gray M3 and then modifying it to be more unique. Just like E90Fanatics members who think stock cars are boring, TMS felt the same about their Frozen Gray E92 M3. Boring is not something Turner does so to make the M3 a little more exciting they bolted on some Volk Racing G2 wheels in an 18x10" all around (square) setup and we have the exclusive pictures!
The 18x10" Volk Racing G2 Forged is a TMS exclusive size. Running the same size and offset front to rear allows tire rotation at the track. And of course where else would TMS take their latest toy. Will Turner will be taking the otherwise stock M3 to the track to lay down some lap times to see if the Frozen Gray paint adds anything to the lap times when compared to their previous toy, an 08 M3 6 speed.

Dakar Yellow BMW M3 E92 with plenty of Carbon Fiber spoted in SoCal by AutoSpies
 Auto Spies Agent 001 was out spying LA yesterday when he came across this little gem on the sales floor at South Bay BMW in Torrance.
No you're NOT mistaken, it is a factory ordered 2011 BMW M3 Coupe in M3 heritage Dakar Yellow with KILLER carbon accents and 335is black kidney grills.
As you know a lot of buzz has been circling around about the Frozen Gray matte finished special edition M3 but Agent 001 likes tradition and is diggin' this beauty.
Our one criticism of the M3 is that it needed a couple special edition colors when it launched outside of the boring red the launch cars were all painted.
All previous editions had exotic color options like Phoenix Yellow, Daytona Violet, Estoril Blue, Laguna Seca Blue, etc. If we bought an M3, we'd want it to stand out. How about you?
What say you about this badass yellow coupe? STUD or DUD?
BTW, it's not sold so if you want it give Achilles jingle and tell them the Spies sent you.
FYI, check the window sticker...The custom color adds $5k to the tally.
